Board of Directors – Structure and Commitment
CAH’s Board of Directors is a governance board composed of up to nine (9) directors, who leverage the diversity of their expertise, perspectives, and commitment to the organization’s mission.
Board members play an essential role in ensuring strategic oversight, accountability, and sound governance, ensuring that the organization acts in accordance with its values, legal obligations, and long-term objectives.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply to the Board of Directors, individuals must:
- Be a member in good standing of the corporation
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Reside in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA)
- Be able to communicate effectively in French
Onboarding and Governance
Selected individuals participate in a comprehensive onboarding and orientation process, designed to provide them with the knowledge and tools necessary to carry out their governance responsibilities. Ongoing training opportunities are also offered to support their development.
Commitment
Board members are expected to demonstrate active commitment, including:
- Attend 10 meetings per year, held primarily virtually
- Participate in an annual in-person retreat, dedicated to training, strategic reflection, and team cohesion
- Prepare for meetings and contribute to informed decision-making
- Participate in committee work
- Participate in community events – represent CAH
