WITHOUT CAH, I HAD NO VOICE TO BE HEARD

Testimonial from Mrs. Monique Makanda Nseyo

Monique Makanda Nseyo is a community client who found a voice to be heard through CAH. After a fall in 2016 that left her with difficulty walking, Monique received assistance from the Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) and CAH to adapt her home and obtain a subsidized walker. She now receives home care from CAH, essential support for her daily life.

Testimonial

Mrs. Monique Makanda Nseyo

I was a long-time member of CAH’s Seniors Centre (NOTE: now called CVA for Active Living Centre). I really enjoyed it. I would come to do exercises. In 2016, I ended up in the emergency room following dizziness and a fall. I can no longer really walk and I live alone.

After some time, friends who are residents of Place Saint-Laurent spoke to Clarisse about me. She contacted the people at the Central Toronto Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) on my behalf, who sent a physiotherapist to assess my situation, see how I was set up, how I managed to move around my apartment. He immediately said that I needed a walker and other adjustments in my home. Clarisse gave me a case manager. She helped me get a subsidy that paid $300 of the $400 the walker cost. I now receive home care from CAH to assist me. It was very necessary. Without CAH, I had no voice to be heard.
