After a career in the public service, in French-language services and translation, she wished to remain active within the community upon retirement. Her involvement on the CAH Board of Directors allows her to leverage her experience in management and program development, convinced that one can contribute and be useful at any age.

“I was a colleague of Gérard Parent when we worked at the Ministry of Health. When he became the Executive Director of CAH, he approached me to become a member of the organization and participate in its activities. Diane St-Pierre, who was the president at the time, convinced me to join the Board.

I have always worked in French. My family, who immigrated to Canada from Holland, has always valued languages. Then, my first Franco-Ontarian teacher gave me a love for the French language. I eventually made a career in the public service, in French-language services and translation. When the time for retirement came, I wanted to maintain my ties with the Francophone community.

Being a Board member of an organization like CAH, serving Francophone seniors, was so natural. Moreover, it is the ideal type of volunteering to use all my experience in management, policy analysis, and program implementation.

I realized one day that if Trump can be president, I can certainly work on a Board and contribute as much as young people! One can be useful and hold responsibilities at any age.”
